LightChange Announces New IPv6 Initiative

A brand-new LightChange initiative aimed education and implementation of the next generation of the internet–IPv6.

Louisville, Kentucky – LightChange today is announcing Get 6’d initiative aimed providing a path to the Next Generation Internet. IPv4 was developed in the 1980s and used to provide IP addresses to websites and devices. But it is running out of them due to its 32-bit structure and the explosion of devices such as phones and even kitchen appliances now being connected to the internet.

IPv6 is the answer to the issue. IPv6  uses 128-bit addresses and has theoretical 340 undecillion addresses. More than enough room to handle the internet’s growing numbers. While the extra growing room is nice, IPv6 also allows for end to end encryption, making it more secure as well. Simply put, IPv6 is the future of the internet.

LightChange’s Get 6’d initiative provides a path to the next generation of the internet with education, advice and implementation strategies preparing Kentucky’s businesses for the future.

LightChange was founded in 2004 by Michael O’Coners with the goal of providing top notch IT services paired with excellent, honest customer service. His experience subcontracting for large integrators led him to this revelation, where knowledge and service often weren’t held to the highest standards. Michael saw customer service and treating customers’ issues as your own to be integral to doing business for LightChange.

Since its founding, LightChange has come to be a premier technical solutions provider for Internet Service Providers, Cloud Service Providers, energy sectors, enterprise data centers, financial institutions, medical facilities, universities and small businesses.
