Sustainability.
At LightChange, we care about our planet as well as our local community.
Green isn’t just in our logo, it’s in our philosophy as well. At LightChange we strive to do our part to protect our environment by repurposing and recycling to keep e-waste out of the landfill.
Repurpose.
LightChange will pick up old electronics being replaced (see our procurement plan), destroy any data left on the items using Department of Defense standards, and prep items to be repurposed. Most usable items are donated to charitable or educational causes. Items that don’t meet criteria for repurposing are recycled.
Recycle.
Items that can’t be repurposed are recycled. All materials are put through processing to break them down into usable components ensuring less material ends up in a landfill. Hard drives are either crushed or shredded to protect your data. Teardown and recycling is performed by Bluegrass E-Cycle.
